The four-time world champion was snapped signing autographs for his fans and posing for photos ahead of the weekend's Chinese Grand Prix. Before heading to the podium Hamilton was caught on camera calling Verstappen a "d--head" and later told media that he thought the Red Bull driver's overtaking attempt lacked respect.
Though his subsequent response, when asked why he felt Hamilton had criticised, was to say that "it's quite easy and simple to blame the younger driver", was seized upon for clickbait purposes, Verstappen and his Mercedes rival had soon deflated the situation by shaking hands in the paddock.
"I just shook his hand and I was like, 'Look I'm sorry about the last race'".
Pushed further on Hamilton's stance, Verstappen said: "I might have a talk with him, depends if it's necessary, [but] why should I change something? Obviously after this incident I didn't, but I just saw Max now", Hamilton said in Shanghai. "Shanghai has been a good track for us in the past". The German triumphed in both Australia and Bahrain, leaving his biggest challengers - particularly Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas - scratching their helmets.
"It's simple and easy to blame the younger driver". The collision caused a puncture on Verstappen's car, which damaged the transmission as he returned to the pits and resulted in the Red Bull's retirement from the race.Читайте также: Mark Zuckerberg and US senators inspire endless memes — Facebook
"I have a lot of respect for Max and I hope you can see that from the comments I've said about him in testing where he's got great potential to be the champion".
He also accused the Red Bull driver of lacking respect and went on to suggest Verstappen's inexperience was costing the former champions crucial points.
Germany's Vettel and Ferrari stole a march on the Silver Arrows with victory in Australia to open the Formula One season and followed up with a tense triumph last weekend in Bahrain. I was just trying to overtake a car. It was a fair chance.
Despite claiming the first two victories of 2018 Sebastian Vettel believes Mercedes, not Ferrari, is the team to beat at this weekend's Chinese Grand Prix. It's very close and it's going to be an interesting season. I don't know if they are inexperienced, or not potentially mature, decisions, they're not getting the results they would have.
"For example last year in Mexico it could have gone wrong as well [when Verstappen took the lead at the first corner], maybe for me or maybe for another car, as you can see in Mexico it did [Hamilton and Vettel collided]".При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
