Known officially as the e-Palette Alliance, the vehicle will utilize Toyota's proprietary Mobility Services Platform (MSPF) to develop a suite of connected mobility solutions and a flexible, purpose-built vehicle.
Toyota previewed its vision of the future mobility at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show on Monday. Toyota plans to start testing the vehicle as early as 2020. The newly founded alliance includes Uber, Amazon, Mazda, and Pizza Hut. It will be equipped with something called an 'open vehicle control interface', so its users can install their own self-driving software to suit their own needs, though that'll always be overseen by Toyota's safety systems. It also specifically aims to have some on the roads in Japan, in time for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020.

Pizza Hut introduced new delivery options in 2017, including ordering through Alexa-powered devices, mobile delivery tracking, and a trial for beer and wine deliveries. Toyoda said on stage that he loses sleep about the work done by tech giants like Apple and Google in the automotive space.
