Israeli intelligence apparently had a long and prosperous run of data and information from its own exploitation of the Kaspersky anti-virus products, including using it to spy on the Iranian-Western Powers nuclear talks from which Jerusalem was excluded.
The revelations came amid concerns in the US that Russian hackers broke into the US networks and meddled with the 2016 US presidential election.
In its June 2015 report, Kaspersky noted that its attackers seemed primarily interested in the company's work on nation-state attacks, particularly Kaspersky's work on the "Equation Group"-its private industry term for the NSA-and the "Regin" campaign, another industry term for a hacking unit inside the United Kingdom's intelligence agency, the Government Communications Headquarters, or GCHQ".
The 2015 breach that allegedly occurred via Kaspersky Lab software saw hackers target the home computer of an NSA contractor after essentially using the anti-virus program to identify confidential files.
