Trump asked Comey when he would dispel investigation rumors

Weeks after taking office, President Trump asked FBI Director James Comey in a phone call when the FBI would publicly announce that he was not personally under investigation, The New York Times reported Thursday. However, Lieberman, a Democrat turned independent, is not being backed by his former Democratic colleagues, who note his lack of relevant experience, argue that no politician should head the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and point to ideological differences.

"With all of the illegal acts that took place in the Clinton campaign & Obama Administration, there was never a special counsel appointed!" Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.), told reporters after the meeting, an account backed up by Sen.

"The entire thing has been a witch hunt and there is no collusion between certainly myself and my campaign - but I can always speak for myself - and the Russians". Some of these Republicans have been quick to criticize the president, while not being almost so harsh on Mr. Comey for failing to disclose his notes to the Justice Department, which would be required by the law if he felt the president was trying to obstruct justice.

Trump warns sacked Federal Bureau of Investigation chief not to 'leak' conversations
Trump's nominee must be confirmed in the Senate, where Democrats and some Republicans have fiercely criticized Comey's firing. Mr McCabe said that Mr Comey enjoyed "broad support" from the rank and file.

And the Justice Department, having lost all credibility in its mishandling of the scandal, has just named the widely respected former FBI director and prosecutor Robert Mueller III to launch his own independent investigation. Comey rejected that request, and instead offered Trump his honesty.

Trump cited displeasure with the FBI's Russian Federation probe as a factor in dismissing Comey. Trump fired Comey last week.

Pai said the goal was "to return to the light-touch regulatory framework" that had allowed the internet to flourish. The NPRM kicks off a rulemaking process with broad potential implications for ISPs, consumers, and edge providers.

US President Donald Trump has denied all allegations that he tried to pressure fired FBI Director James Comey into dropping a Russia-related probe, and called the appointment of a special counsel to probe claims of his collusion with Russian Federation a "witch hunt". "I think it divides the country, I think we have a very divided country because of that many other things".

As well as being accused of obstructing the investigation into Flynn and possible collusion with Russia, this week saw reports that Trump had disclosed highly classified information in a meeting last week with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and ambassador to the U.S. Sergey Kislyak. However, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham told reporters after the briefing that "everything he (Rosenstein) said was that you need to treat this investigation as if it may be a criminal investigation".

Trump said Thursday he thought firing Comey would be a popular decision because he'd been criticised by Democrats and Republicans alike for his handling of an investigation into Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server while she was secretary of state. Trump later said he had already chose to dismiss him and was thinking of "this Russian Federation thing". Comey reportedly described a couple of encounters with Trump that had concerned him.
