Guardiola wants winning send-off for City stalwart Zabaleta

Yaya Toure's camp claim they are yet to hear from Manchester City amid reports the midfielder is set to be offered a new contract.

"When I first came to Manchester I felt like when I was in Barcelona at Espanyol, we were not the main club in the city - we can't say the same thing now", Zabaleta said.

It's widely considered to be the most iconic moment since the English top flight was rebranded in 1992 and Silva, who was a key player as City won their first title in 44 years, says it was an "unforgettable" occasion.

Zabaleta's departure after nine years was confirmed on Saturday evening after the fan favourite decided not to seek a new deal at the end of the campaign, and the club will mark his service, following the final home game of the season against West Brom, with video montages, tributes and a post-match presentation.

It will also be Pablo Zabaleta's last game at the Etihad after the club announced he is joining West Ham.

Guardiola was impressed with the former Ivory Coast international's performance against Leicester City over the weekend, and praised him for handing the penalty duty to Gabriel Jesus.

"His impact here was incredible, he was the first player to come here and he helped make this club what it is right now", Guardiola told a news conference.

City are destined to finish the season empty-handed after enduring frustrating runs through domestic and European cup competitions, while slipping out of title contention in the Premier League.

Guardiola discounted suggestions that West Brom have given up on their season despite the Baggies taking just two points from their last seven games.

Zabaleta arrived at City from Espanyol in August 2008, a day before the Abu Dhabi takeover transformed the fortunes of the club. We were not the main club in the city. For me, we couldn't let people say something like that about us.

En la conferencia de prensa, Trump también rechazó las insinuaciones sobre cargos penales o un juicio político. Trump despidió sorpresivamente a Comey la semana pasada, lo que aumentó las críticas en su contra.

'I remember at that time Sir Alex Ferguson and the "noisy neighbours" and this is something that I have been since that time.

"Here they gave me a second chance and we will try to do it". We play for a lot of important things, so they have to come to support us more than ever and to express the gratitude to one of the most important players in the whole history of Manchester City.

It also promises to be an emotional night with City fans saying farewell to cult hero Pablo Zabaleta on his last appearance at the Etihad Stadium.

"There are clubs who have already qualified for next season's Champions League, but for Yaya, Manchester City is a very special club".
