For instance, if you can not remember the password on a website or app, it will use Facebook instead to verify you. You have to re-use them again and again.
Many people are skeptical about trusting Facebook with other accounts.
Rather strangely, Hill also stated that this feature would "benefit people just beginning to use the internet, who may have Facebook accounts but not an email or phone number". If, say, Facebook knows you always log in via your iPhone in California, an attempt from Russian Federation on an Android will be flagged.

The bad guys can log in to your other accounts if they manage to hack your Facebook account. Facebook will know you use the bank's services, but it doesn't know anything about your bank account.
Though developers have to now sign-up to use this tool, Facebook intends to eventually open source it, so while you might not trust the social media giant with your information, you might be more comfortable if another, more trustworthy organization would implement it.
While the program does not completely replace passwords, Facebook says it's a step to eventually get rid of them. Both firms support Yubikey, a physical key you plug into your computer that acts like a password. This of course, ignores the fact that you need an email address or a phone number to sign up to Facebook in the first place. Brad Hill assures that security on Facebook will get even better in the future.
