The "Straw Hat Bandit" responsible for a series of eastern Pennsylvania bank robberies turned out to be a guy from Bucks County who ran an unsuccessful photography business, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced Thursday. It comes the day after a grand jury returned an indictment charging Richard Boyle of Doylestown. According to reports, The FBI says Boyle's series of armed bank robberies began in early June of 2012 when he's alleged to have robbed the Colonial American Bank in Horsham. He was charged with 11 counts of bank robbery, 10 counts of using or carrying a firearm during the commission of the bank robberies, and 10 counts of money laundering.
Boyle was already in state prison on a probation violation and was transferred to federal custody for his court appearance.

The next robbery attributed to him came a year later on January 6, 2015, when he held up the Wells Fargo Bank, 481 W. Germantown Pike in Plymouth Meeting.
An indictment alleges that Boyle laundered a portion of the proceeds of these robberies through his aerial photography business, in an attempt to hide the source of these funds.
