WhatsApp has started rolling out the old "text status" feature. But recently it introduced a major feature called Status, which allowed users to add short video and pictures and share it with their friends, similar to how they do it on Facebook. On Android, the new version of WhatsApp is version 2.17.107, and this update is now live on Google Play Store. Your contact list will be able to see the Status message by opening your contact, when starting a new chat thread, or viewing group info. You can find this Android Beta update through the APK Mirror option for now. It is not yet available to all as the update rollout is gradual.

Users can click on the three-dot menu found on the top left of the screen, click Settings and in the About section you will find the original Text Status option available, complete with default statuses of "Available", "Busy", "At school" and more.
