The Competition Committee has proposed a rule that would shorten overtime in regular season games to ten minutes, down from the 15 minutes that the overtime period now lasts. In this proposal, postseason overtime periods would remain 15 minutes in length. Recently, the league also shifted the overtime rules to make sure that each team has an opportunity to score. In the past, we've seen adjustments such as the touchback rule and lengthened extra-point distance, and further changes could be made relatively soon.
NFL Network's Judy Battista tweeted Monday that the committee will propose reducing both preseason and regular-season overtime periods from 15 minutes to 10 minutes. It could certainly affect some games, though, potentially leading to many more National Football League ties than has taken place in the past.

En ese refugio, a cargo de la Secretaría de Bienestar Social de la Presidencia de Guatemala , se originó un incendio. El incendio supuestamente provocado por las mismas niñas dejó también unas 15 menores heridas, algunas de gravedad.
Among the other proposals on the docket according to The Post were automatic suspensions for players on particularly egregious hits and having replay rulings determined by league officiating members in NY. The Patriots ended up scoring a touchdown to win the game, shocking the football world by completing the largest comeback in Super Bowl history.
For a proposal to become an NFL rule, it has to get a "yes" vote from 24 of the league's 32 owners, who will all be attendance for the meeting, which is set for March 26-29 in Phoenix.

A report by NFL.com columnist Judy Battista underscored how a potential disadvantage may already be in place for teams playing in an overtime period on Sunday. Would the owners agree with the players on this issue? Some believe making them full-time would improve the quality of the officiating in the NFL. Currently, they're only part-time employees, considering there are only 256 games in a season.
All this is going to do is create more ties, while not actually changing the style of play in overtime.

Of course, the obvious downside to having a shorter overtime is that it would likely mean that we'd see more ties during the regular season. Ties muddle the standings as well, giving inexact results when it comes to the head-to-head divisional matchups.
