Season 2 will premiere on Netflix in 2017 with nine episodes, one more than Season 1's eight-episode run. The first details have also emerged. Although the Duffer brothers thought about doing a time jump, apparently they have chose to continue the story in 1984 because they feel that there are still plenty of stories to be told in the 1980s, as there are plenty of unresolved storylines and issues.
What else could be out there?' said Ross Duffer. "That's something we batted around from the very beginning. But for us, there's still more story here [in the 1980s], there's still things that are unresolved".
Of course, that likely means we'll be seeing Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Joyce (Winona Ryder), and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) again.

"[There are] a lot of questions there in terms of, if the Monster is dead, was it a singular monster?" What else could be out there?
No official plot synopsis was revealed with the Season 2 announcement but the Duffer brothers lightly teased what they had planned (should they get the green light for a second season) at the 2016 Television Critics Association summer press tour in July. "It's open-ended in a way that if people wanted it, and Netflix wanted it, we could explore it and continue the storyline". "There's a lot more mystery there to be solved".
The teaser is also delivered in the same style as the show's intro, with S U R V I V E's spooky composition and all.
