Serious about winning it all this season, the Cleveland Indians acquired left-handed reliever Andrew Miller from the New York Yankees on Sunday in exchange for four players.
The deal came less than 12 hours after the Indians had reached an agreement on the parameters of a swap with Milwaukee for Brewers All-Star catcher Jonathan Lucroy. That trade is still pending physicals and Lucroy waiving his no-trade clause.
Lucroy said Sunday he wasn't going to go into the details behind his decision, but the long term is more important than the short term for him and his family.
And usually, the Indians are a pathetic excuse for a team.
The Cleveland Indians are riding high in the Central Division and rumors are swirling on whether the addition of Andrew Miller would further boost their chances of getting a World Series spot this season.
The Indians come into the Minnesota series having just swept a three-game series with Oakland. "I know when we go into NY (this) week, we don't have to face Andrew Miller, which will be really nice".

"We're trying to get back to a situation where we can build an uber team, a sustainable one", Cashman said. "I wish we would have accomplished a little bit more". They've got some good pieces out in the bullpen. It's great that they feel that way.
The right-handed Betances traded compliments with the lefty Miller, illustrative of the bullpen bond they formed since Miller's arrival as a free agent in 2015.
In 44 games, Miller sports a 6-1 record with a 1.44 ERA, nine saves, and 77 strikeouts in 45-and-one-third innings (15.3 K/9).

Seattle received left-hander Ariel Miranda in Sunday's trade. Miller has mostly been a setup man, which is what he was with the Yankees this year, pitching mostly in the eighth inning. He appeared in one game for Baltimore on July 3 at Seattle, allowing three runs and four hits in two innings. He is signed through the 2018 season at $9 million per year.
